Bio
Currently ranked No. 28 in the world, Romania’s Alexandra Dulgheru has two career WTA singles titles to her credit. She has been ranked as high as No. 28 in the world in singles, first achieved on July 12, 2010, and as high as 109th in doubles, achieved on July 26, 2010.
She played in her first tour qualifier in 2007, then exploded onto the scene in 2009, winning the title at Warsaw while ranked No. 201 and in the first main draw of her career. She was the fifth non-Top 200 player to ever win a Tour singles title. She made her Top 100 debut on May 25, leaping from No. 201 to No. 83. She reached two second rounds and four first rounds, including at the US Open.
In 2010 she reached the second round at Indian Wells and made her Top 50 debut aftewrads, then defended her title at Warsaw, defeating Na Li in the semifinals. She reached the third round at the French Open, eventually losing to No. 3 Caroline Wozniacki. She repeated the success at Wimbledon, reaching the third round before falling to Kaia Kanepi.
