Ranked 104th in the world at the end of 2010, Germany's Daniel Brand turned pro in 2005.
He cracked the Top 150 for the first time in 2008, reaching at least the quarterfinals of nine Challenger tournaments, winning one and reaching the main draw of the French Open.
In May of 2009, he reached the semifinals at Munich, upsetting No. 46 Julien Bennetau in the second round to climb to 126th. After winning the Challenger at Eckental and reaching the semifinals of the next two, he cracked the Top 100, finishing the year ranked 92nd.
In 2010, he was still ranked in the 90s heading into Wimbledon with his first main-draw qualifier. He upset Igor Andreev in the first round, stunned fifth-ranked Nikolay Davydenko in the second and took down 38th-ranked Victor Hanescu in the third before losing to eventual finalist Tomas Berdych in the fourth. Picking up 180 points vaulted him from 98th to 70th in the rankings, and he eventually rose to 68th. He chose to play ATP events rather than Challengers at year's end, which cost him significant points and saw him drop back outside the Top 100.
Year-End Singles Rankings: 2007 - 220th; 2008 - 150th; 2009 - 92nd; 2010 - 104th.
