South Africa's Kevin Anderson is the son of Michael and Barbara, who formerly owned and operated a hotel. His father still works part-time in the industry. His father is a former tennis player and ran competitively in the 800-meter run.
Anderson played collegiately at the University of Illinois from 2005-2007 and was an all-American all three years, winning the 2006 NCAA doubles title and reaching the 2007 singls semifinal and doubles final.
At 6-feet, 8-inches, he is the third-tallest player on the ATP Tour, looking up only to America's John Isner and Croatia's Ivo Karlovic.
