Ranked 110th to end the 2010 season, Switzerland's Marco Chiudinelli is a former Top 60 player still seeking his first ATP career title.
Chiudinelli toiled in obscurity for most of the first decade of his career, with injury causing him to fall to 605th at the end of the 2008 season. He started 2009 healthy and reached the second round at Johannesburg and Dubai to move nearly 300 spots up the rankings ladder. He played successfully in several Challenger events to vault into the Top 200, then reached the third round of the US Open, defeating Mikhail Youzhny, to vault to No. 116. He stayed red-hot, reaching the quarterfinals at Bangkok, the second round at Tokyo and the semifinals at Basel to finish the year ranked 56th, a staggering climb of 549 spots over the year.
Chiudinelli fell back to earth in 2010, compiling a 14-29 record andd finishing the year 110th. His best performance was a quarterfinal appearance at Stuttgart.
