Colombia's Santiago Giraldo is the son of Eduardo, a private constructor, and Elsa. He has one sister, Carmina, who played in the Fed Cup for Colombia and now is a marketing CEO. His brother Daniel is a general CEO of Zona Franca Internacional de Pereira. Giraldo began playing tennis at age two and said if he wasn't a tennis player, he'd be a politician.
