Bio
Vera Zvonareva was born into a family who are successful athletes. Natalia, Vera’s mother, is a former Olympic bronze medalist in field hockey and Igor Zvonarev, her father, participated in a USSR championship in Bandy. She began playing tennis at age 6. She is known for her emotional style of play and fast game. She never looks at the draw previous to a match. She won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She primarily plays singles but won doubles title at Wimbledon in 2006 and the US Open in 2004 and 2005.She is a member of the Russian State Academy of Physical Education, and is currently getting her second degree in international economic relations at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow; Favorite book is "Peter the First" by Leo Tolstoy. She was in the 2011 ESPN Bare Issue where she posed nude to celebrate the athletic body.
