Defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan won the battle between two teams of brothers on Thursday when they knocked out Andy Murray and Jamie Murray 7-5, 6-4 at Monte-Carlo.
Then, today in the quarter finals, the top-seeded American twins overwhelmed Leander Paes-Radek Stepanek, 6-2, 6-0 in just 50 minutes to improve their lifetime record against this tandem to 3-2. The Bryans had also beaten this team at Sydney, while losing to them in the Australian Open final.
The Bryans are now 18-3 during 2012 campaign.
Two weeks ago the Bros. also won their crucial Davis Cup doubles match against France at this same site, defeating Michael Llodra-Julien Benneteau, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6, to help the USA to a stunning upset win, 3-2. Previously the American squad shocked Switzerland and Roger Federer, 5-0, in the first round in February. They play Spain in the semis the weekend following the US Open.
