The Bryan Brothers, Bob and Mike, won their 7th title of the year on Sunday, beating the No.3-ranked team of Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor 7-6(1), 6-3 at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Austria.
They were playing in their 10th final of the year, winning at the Australian Open, Houston, Monte-Carlo, Madrid, Queen’s Club and Wimbledon and finishing as the runners-up in Sydeny, Barcelona and Montreal.
Mike Bryan said of the tournament, “I thought we played really well all week. We escaped a scare in the first-round and felt we had no pressure the rest of the week. I thought today was great tennis and it came down to a few points in that first set breaker, and we had a little luck and carried the momentum."
During their trip to Austria, the Bryans, along with Thomas Muster, met Heinz Fisher, the President of Austria, the Bryans gifting him one of their Prince EXO3 Rebel racquets.
This week sees the Bryans competing in Valencia, moving on to the Paris Indoors and then the Masters Cup in London. They are looking to finish the year in the No. 1 position for the 7th time.
