Just in time for Rafael Nadal's return to tennis this week at the Vina Del Mar event in Chile, a new teaching app is available for those who want to play just like the 11-time Major champion. Or at least learn how.
Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy powered by Vistrator is the new app that allows you to watch multiple tutorials on Nadal's shots as demonstrated by the man himself. The software also allows one to upload their own videos and then compare their technique to Nadal's.
An example of this can be found in this demonstration video of Jaime Murray hitting a serve at Wimbledon and it being compared side-by-side to Nadal's own serve. The video analysis tool allows one to pinpoint specific differences in the way you hit a shot versus the way Nadal does with the goal of making you a better player.
The app also allows users the opportunity to share their videos with other users through Facebook and Twitter as well as listen to Nadal discuss his thoughts on being a professional tennis player.
Though diehard Nadal fans will probably download the app right away, those who are looking to seriously improve their game might want to use the app in conjunction with whatever training methods they are currently using, whether through lessons and/or working with an instructor. No two players are alike and though intermediate players can certainly learn something valuable from the Spanish star, this app shouldn't be the only method used to transform one's shots from average to impressive. Still, it's a cool and fun app that is worth checking out.
The cost of the app is $4.99 and a Spanish language version is also available. Currently only iPhone users can download the program.
