There were mild changes in the men's and women's Top 20 tennis polls this week.

For the women, former No .1 Ana Ivanovic surpassed American Sloane Stephens to take over No. 16 in the world.

Ivanovic reached the quarterfinals at Stuttgart last week, falling to tournament champion Maria Sharapova there.

Since her run to the Australian Open semifinals in January, Stephens' game has been largely MIA. She has three first-match losses, and her only win over a top 20 player was defeating Venus Williams in a walk over.

Outside of the Top 8, the WTA women are a remarkably tight-knit bunch. Just 1,455 points separate No. 9 Samantha Stosur from No. 18 Jelena Jankovic.

Italy's Francesca Schiavone, the 2010 French Open champion and 2011 runner-up, jumped 11 spots to No. 37 this week after winning Marrakech last week for 280 points and $40,000.

There was also a swap at No. 16 and 17 for the men's tour, as Stanislas Wawrinka moved a spot ahead of Gilles Simon.
