Petkovic swept Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first reverse singles match of the Fed Cup semifinals in Sochi (Kuznetsova also announced her withdrawal from Stuttgart on Monday, citing an injury she picked up over the weekend).

Petkovic returned to court partnering Sabine Lisicki in a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Elena Vesnina that clinched Russia's return to the Fed Cup final.

Petkovic has played a lot of tennis in recent weeks, reaching semifinals in Miami and Charleston. Her best Stuttgart result was a quarterfinal appearance in 2011.
