Video: Agassi, Muster Square Off in Stuttgart

Opening night in Stuttgart featured a pair of French Open champions renewing a once fierce rivalry.

Andre Agassi and Thomas Muster met in the Berenberg Classic exhibition that preceded Monday night's opening-round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

Both former world No. 1 players showed they're still world-class ball-strikers. Agassi said advancing age and diminished mobility compels him to play even more aggressively against the Austrian, who still looks ultra-fit at age 47.

Watch the ball girl showcase a Steffi Graf-inspired forehand as she rifles a passing shot past Agassi at the 50-second mark of the video.

The match came 21 years after their classic 1994 French Open clash when Muster prevailed with a rugged 6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 victory after Agassi had rallied from 1-5 down in the fifth set to level the match.

Years later, that match made headlines as Agassi revealed in his autobiography, Open, that when Muster rubbed his head in the post-match handshake, he nearly dislodged the American's hairpiece.

Agassi admitted the gesture nearly caused him to wig out on the Austrian.

"At net he rubs my head, musses my hair," Agassi wrote in Open. "Apart from being condescending, his gesture nearly dislodges my hairpiece. Good try he says. I stare at him with pure hatred. Big mistake, Muster. Don't touch the hair. Don't ever touch the hair. Just for that, I tell him at the net, I'll make you a promise. I'll never lose to you again."

Watch that post-match exchange at the 2-minute mark of this video. Agassi hits an amazing over-the-shoulder lob at the 90-second mark.

The pair have put past disputes behind them, joking before the exhibition.
