Video: Djokovic Named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is now the World Sportsman of the year.

Djokovic was named the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year at a ceremony in Shanghai, China.

Djokovic, who is the top seed in Monte Carlo, was presented with the award by HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco at the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club. He expressed gratitude in a video message.

"In general it probably has been the best year of my life so far," Djokovic said. "And I want to thank you very much for giving me this appreciation and respect."

It was a life-changing year for Djokovic, who posted a 61-8 record, won Wimbledon, claimed five Masters championships, married long-time fiancee Jelena and became a father as his wife gave birth to son Stefan.

It's been quite a week for Nole. He began the week surpassing Rafael Nadal for the sixth spot in most weeks spent at world No. 1. Djokovic topped fellow Laureus nominees Cristiano Ronaldo and Rory McIlroy for the award.

This isn't Nole's first time earning World Sportsman of the Year honors.

You may remember who presented him with the 2012 award.
