Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

For those interested, Italian Camila Giorgi, who's entered in this week's Western & Southern Open main draw (as a wildcard), just beat 14th seed Francesca Schiavone 6-1, 6-3 in the first round. There was some shaky serving from Giorgi in the second set, but played more consistently than Schiavone and made a few good passing shots against the FO champ.

Style Focus: Giorgi also made waves at this year's Wimbledon, where she took out Pennetta and Petrova before falling to Radwanska in the fourth round. She wore a simple, white dress that did not have a brand logo. It turns out that her match outfits are made by her mother -- How adorable! But also could lead to trouble: today's uber-pattern was a little overwhelming as an entire blue dress.

Up next for GIorgi in the top half of the draw (same quarter as Radwanska) is the winner of Pironkova and fellow wildcard Sloane Stephens. (
