It drew a massive applause from the crowd and a smile from Federer, but it could not stop the Swiss maestro’s momentum. Federer took a second-set tiebreaker and clinched a 6-3, 7-6(5) win to move into the final.

The Swiss will bid to tie Ivan Lendl for 2nd on the ATP’s all-time title list with 94 when he meets either Alexander Zverev or Denis Shapovalov in the final.
