McEnroe Hosts Hamptons Pro-Am & Party

John McEnroe is throwing a pro-am and party this weekend—and you're invited to the celebration.

Former world No. 1 McEnroe, joined by brother Patrick McEnroe, Hall of Famers Lindsay Davenport, Chris Evert, and Martina Navratilova and other tennis legends and former pros, including Andrea Jaeger and Ashley Harkleroad, will participate in the Johnny Mac Tennis Project’s (JMTP) fourth annual pro-am in the Hamptons on Saturday, August 25th.

The event will include a legends exhibition, seven rounds of pro-am doubles play, food and drink, and silent and live auctions, all to raise funds to support JMTP programs that change young lives by removing the economic and social barriers to success through tennis.

“I am excited to get out to the Hamptons for another great pro-am event, and I’m even more excited about the support this event provides to further the Johnny Mac Tennis Project’s mission to make the experience of tennis possible for children and communities who wouldn’t otherwise have the chance—and maybe even to help to create the next rising group of American tennis champions. There should be no barrier to a future champion coming from New York City, just like I did.” said John McEnroe. "We're proud that we have been able to turn this annual Hamptons event into one of the largest pro-am events in the world, and this year, again, we expect to host 128 players—tennis legends, former pros and college stars, talented amateurs and recreational players—all enjoying a fun, competitive day of tennis together in support of a worthy cause.”

The JMTP Pro-Am will be held from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Sportime Amagansett, at 320 Abrahams Path, Town of East Hampton.

Participants will compete in seven rounds of round-robin doubles play (approximately 15 minutes per round) alongside former WTA and ATP Tour pros, current and former Division I College players, and top John McEnroe Tennis Academy pros.

In total, there will be 64 professional players partnered with 64 amateurs.

The event will also include an exclusive Benefactor Level Flight, in which eight lucky amateurs will compete with and against the tennis Legends and current and former ATP and WTA players.

All Benefactors will get to play seven rounds of doubles against other Benefactor-Pro teams.

The After Party will be held at 8 p.m. at a private residence in Amagansett. Players, guests and fans will be hosted by Johnny Mac and friends. Dress will be casual and guests will enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner, an open bar, live entertainment and dancing, a live auction and more.

“This Pro-Am has become a very special, annual event for our JMTP team. We have created the opportunity in the Hamptons, 36 hours before the start of the US Open, to allow participants to meet and mingle with tennis Legends, play and watch great tennis close-up, and, of course, support a wonderful program that’s really making a positive impact,” said Patrick McEnroe, who serves as President of JMTP’s Board of Directors. “The event is a lot of fun for everyone involved, but most importantly it allows us to continue expanding access to tennis.”
