Second Serve

Nick Kyrgios delivered a declarative US Open victory—then made a stunning statement about the ATP.

Kyrgios cranked 24 aces and dropped serve just once sweeping Steve Johnson, 6-3, 7-6 (1), 6-4, in a commanding opening-round conquest.

Then the Washington, D.C. champion dropped a bombshell on the ATP.

Asked by the Australian media his reaction to the $113,000 fine he was hit with for his implosion in Cincinnati, Krygios unloaded.

"The ATP is pretty corrupt anyway," Kyrgios charged in comments published by The Sydney Morning Herald. "I'm not fussed about it at all."

The ATP responded in a statement saying Gayle Bradshaw, ATP executive vice president for rules and competition, will make a determination on possible actions to Kyrgios' comments.

Earlier today, Kyrgios took to twitter to clarify his comments saying he was trying to point out a double standard—rather than corruption—on the ATP Tour.

"It was not the correct choice of words and my point and intention was to address what I see as double standards rather than corruption," Kyrgios said. "I know my behavior has been at times controversial and that has landed me in trouble, which at times is granted and valid but my issue is around others whether gaining the same, less or more media attention doing the same or similar behavior and not being sanctioned. That's my issue and continues to be."
