Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati, but hope still remains that the 21-time major champion can enter the US Open, if the United States eases its restrictions that currently bar unvaccinated foreign travelers from entering the country.

Djokovic’s US Open hopes are currently at the mercy of the CDC, which is reportedly currently reviewing its protocols. Something would have to change in the next two weeks for Djokovic to take his place in the draw, which takes place on Friday August 26.
