Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber will open the 2017 season fueled by an Australian secret.

The world No. 1 has signed on as global ambassador for Slim Secrets, an Australian health food snack brand.

“I am incredibly excited to have this opportunity to partner with such a positive, health forward brand,” Kerber said in a statement.

This is the first time an international sports star of this stature has aligned with an Australian health food brand. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The partnership begins in January when Kerber returns to Australia to defend the first Grand Slam championship of her career.

Slim Secrets founder Sharon Thurin says Kerber's commitment to health and fitness and the fact the two-time Grand Slam champion chose to sign with a small business is a significant achievement for the brand.

“Angelique has quickly become a well-loved tennis player," Thurin said. "She is a great role model for the health and fitness industry and an inspiration for women portraying a healthy body image. We are beyond excited that we have such a well-recognized global athlete on board. Our philosophy is to promote a healthy lifestyle and Angelique absolutely exudes this.” “She has obviously worked very hard to become number one and get where she is today and that includes fueling her body with the best."

Established in 2005, Slim Secrets now operates in over 10 countries. The company manufactures healthy snacks for consumers to manage nutrition, weight and fitness goals.

It's been a busy offseason for Kerber, who stars in this new ad for adidas, her apparel and shoe sponsor.
