Roger Federer served up a milestone in Dubai today.

The reigning champion cracked his 9,000th career ace to open the sixth game of the second set of his 6-3, 7-5 triumph over world No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

"I think I remember which one it was even because I was even counting a little bit!" Federer told ATPWorldTour.com afterward. "I think it was one of the swinger wides maybe. I'm not sure. But I think it happened in the second set at some point. But clearly it is nice to get past that so now I don't have to think about it ever again for the next 9,000 or so!"

The world No. 2 became the fourth man since 1991 to eclipse the rare mark. Federer joins Ivo Karlovic, who reached 9,000 last month, Goran Ivanisevic and Andy Roddick in the exclusive 9,000 club.

"Playing against Novak in the final is alaways a huge deal," Federer said. "So it's very special to be part of this match. We've played many, many times. I always play well against Novak I think we get the best out of each other."
