Juan Martin del Potro solidified his status as a national hero capturing the Olympic silver medal and leading Argentina to its first Davis Cup championship last season.

If del Potro was a superhero there's only one champion he'd choose as a sidekick: Roger Federer.

The 42nd-ranked del Potro, who makes his 2017 debut tonight when he faces Kevin Anderson in his Delray Beach Open opener, sat down with Tennis Now contributor and Delray Beach MC Blair Henley for the video interview above.

Among the revelations Delpo shared with Blair: Novak Djokovic gives the best hugs on tour, nothing beats home cooking and he once accidentally broke his sister's shoulder.

Del Potro has faced Federer in some epic matches.

In a crackling, four hour, six-minute final, del Potro defeated Federer in the 2009 US Open final snapping Federer's 40-match U.S. Open winning streak and becoming the first man to beat Federer and Rafael Nadal in the same Grand Slam tournament.

"I don't have words to explain it," del Potro told the Flushing Meadows crowd after winning the US Open. "I have two dreams: one is (to win) the US Open and the other one is to be like Roger. One is done but I need to improve a lot to be like (Federer)."
