Tomas Berdych and Andy Murray traded more than heavy shots in a tense Australian Open semifinal.

Trash talk erupted from both players and their respective support boxes during Murray's 6-7 (6), 6-0, 6-3, 7-5 victory.

More Video: Murray Makes Phenomenal Get vs. Berdych

Murray's former coach and long-time friend, Dani Vallverdu, is now in the Czech's corner, which added both intrigue and intensity. Murray roared in Vallverdu's direction after breaking for 4-5 in the opening set.

In the video, Berdych appears to say something to Murray as the pair crossed paths following the first-set tie breaker.

The sixth seeded Scot reported the incident to the chair umpire. Afterward, Berdych denied he was talking to Murray and said he was simply celebrating the first set and pumping himself up.

"I really remember that, even though you can see that, that I just won a set. I say to myself, 'Well done, Tomas.' That's it," Berdych said. "That's what I said. I think I'm allowed to do that when I win a set. That was it."

Berdych, who had won six of 10 prior meetings with Murray, said he wasn't focused on the former Wimbledon champion's reaction.

"I mean, I was not really looking at it at all. What, I have to be worried about every word that I'm going to say?" Berdych said. "I mean, I just pumped myself up for winning a first set and that's it, then sit on the chair. I'm not really looking left or right what's going on. I just keep focusing myself and that's it. Maybe next time I should stay even more calm and that's it. But, no, I mean, I was just doing my stuff and that's it."

Murray told chair umpire Pascal Maria, "He's talking to me when we're passing."

Trash talk wasn't confined to the court. Murray's fiancée, Kim Sears, appears to drop a few F-bombs on Berdych in this video.

Fighting through to his fourth Australian Open final, Murray said the bickering with Berdych was natural given the hype and controversy surrounding the match. The Scot suggested the pair were giving the people what they wanted.

"Guys wanted there to be. You wanted there to be tension," Murray said. "It's completely normal for that to happen. I sat in here the other day and got asked more questions about Dani than I did about the match I just played. So you wanted there to be tension. Yeah, because of everything that's gone on it's kind of a natural thing to happen. If you learn how the brain works, it's completely natural for that. So kind of expected, and, yeah, had planned for that to be the case as well."
