Weirdness took center stage on the women’s side during Day 1 at the Australian Open, as eight seeds tumbled out of the draw. But in a match between relatively little-known players over on court 15, the weirdness hit peak level when American Christina McHale was captured by cameras vomiting on court during the third set of her battle with Frenchwoman Stephanie Foretz (see video above).

McHale, locked at 4-all in the decider at the time, was fortunate enough to receive some time off court when officials had to spend time wiping her “bodily fluids” from the court. She would return to finish off the 6-4, 1-6, 12-10 victory, drawing comparisons to another American legend by the name of Pete Sampras.
