Second Serve

Alexandr Dolgopolov lost his shoe during play and lost the ensuing argument to replay the point.

The chair umpire initially stopped the point early in the second set and ruled for a replay of the point before over-ruling her initial decision and awarding the point to Matthew Ebden.

"I was too quick to call it; it's his point," the chair umpire told Dolgopolov.

That led to this exchange.

The 29-year-old Ukrainian didn't let the shoe-stopping moment keep him from victory.

Dolgopolov beat back 30-year-old Ebden, 7-6 (0), 6-3, 6-4, advancing to the Australian Open third round for the third time.

The 2011 Australian Open quarterfinalist will face 24th-seeded Diego Schwartzman for a spot in the round of 16.
