Big Foe is well and truly on the come up in Australia. America’s Frances Tiafoe powered past Andreas Seppi in five tough sets to book a spot in the second week of a major for the first time on Friday, then kicked off an exuberant celebration that quickly turned emotional as the crowd chanted “Tiafoe! Tiafoe!”

The 20-year-old couldn’t hold back the tears as he sat on his chair and tried to gather his emotions.

Tiafoe snapped a five-match losing streak in five-setters and booked a clash with Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16. He is the youngest American to reach this far at a major since 2008.

Dimitrov, now coached by Andre Agassi as well as his longtime coach Dani Vallverdu, defeated Italy’s Thomas Fabbiano, 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-4.
