Sebastian Korda comes from great genes. His dad was a former Grand Slam champ and former World No.2, both his sisters are professional golfers, but don’t sleep on his mom. Regina Rajchrtová, the former World No.26, played a massive role in shaping her youngest child’s game and Korda was quick to give her credit after his three-set victory over compatriot Tommy Paul on Saturday at Delray Beach.
He says she’s the rock of the family.
“She basically shaped my game, how it is today. When I just started playing tennis, my oldest sister, she was playing professional golf, so my dad was travelling with her and caddying for her, so I was on the court every single day when I was a kid, with my mom. She did a pretty good job with my game. She was an incredible player. She doesn’t get the fame as my dad or my sisters, but she’s a rock to our whole family and without that we wouldn’t be here.”
"My mom is an unbelievable tennis player, unfortunately she broke her patella when she was super young, but just the way that she hit the ball was super clean as well," Korda told reporters after the match.
The American moves on to his first ATP quarterfinal at Delray Beach and will face John Isner next.
