Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

It’s all in a day’s work for world No. 1 Novak Djokovic. The stellar performance, the wicked backhand, the fleet-footedness and—huh?—the autographing of prosthetic legs?

That’s right. After his 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Australia’s Bernard Tomic, the Serb was handed a man’s leg to sign. Naturally, eager-to-please and compassionate chap that he is, Djokovic complied.

“I Hope the signature is going to make him feel better,” Djokovic said.

Djokovic, who has not dropped a set at Wimbledon en route to the second week, broke Tomic’s serve four times and did not face a break point all afternoon.

The top seed will face 14th-seeded Kevin Anderson, who defeated Leonardo Mayer on Day 5, in the round of 16. The South African became the sixth man from his country to earn multiple round of 16 appearances at Wimbledon.
