After this acrobatic smash from Gael Monfils—how does he time this ball so well after flying through the air like that? Another question for another day—nobody seemed to know if it was in our out. Nobody really saw it, because it was smoked so ridiculously hard. His opponent, compatriot and friend Gilles Simon, seemed confused. The linesman was obviously clueless-- he flipped a mental coin and called it out. Monfils didn’t know, so he figured he’d challenge.

Turns out it was in by a foot.

What’s better, the shot or the reaction of Monfils and Simon? The good friends take their time and have a laugh before continuing with their five-setter. In the end Simon would have the last laugh as he triumphed , 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(6), 2-6, 6-2, and will move on to face Tomas Berdych on Manic Monday.
