Add Marcos Baghdatis to the cast of prominent players who have withdrawn from the Rio Olympic Games.

The 42nd-ranked Cypriot, who reached the Newport semifinals earlier this month, announced his withdrawal due to a nagging left elbow injury.

"It is clear that unless I am 100% fit and healthy to compete, I shall not participate at the ‪#‎Olympics‬ because I would be doing injustice to my country in being unable to compete 100%," Baghdatis said. "I am honored that my country has entrusted me to represent it at ‪#‎Rio2016‬ together with my other fellow athletes. It is therefore with great sadness that I now announce my withdrawal from the Cyprus Olympic Team. I have already informed the Cyprus Tennis Federation."

The 2006 Australian Open finalist joins 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer, Tomas Berdych, Milos Raonic, Belinda Bencic and Simona Halep on the list of players who have recently pulled out of Rio.

Dominika Cibulkova also suggested she's on the verge of withdrawing, telling the media in Montreal "right now, it's not looking good."
