Mandy Minella's Four and a Half Months Pregnant, and Still Playing at Wimbledon


Being four and a half months pregnant is not stopping Mandy Minella from playing her heart out at Wimbledon.

World No. 82 Minella fell to Francesca Schiavone, 6-1, 6-1 on Day 1 at SW19, and posted the above photo of her husband Tim Sommer kissing her belly on the fabled grass courts of Wimbledon.

According to the Luxemburger Wort newspaper Minella says it will be her last event for a while. “Wimbledon is my last tournament this season,” she said. “I want to compete again at Wimbledon in 2018 - and bring the baby buggy.”

Minella, a 31-year-old from Luxembourg, is also entered in the ladies doubles draw at Wimbledon. She will pair with Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia and face Ipek Soylu and Varatchaya Wongteanchai in round one.
