Second Serve

Not only has Nikoloz Basilashvili made history for his home country of Georgia by becoming the first from his nation to win an ATP title—the 26- year-old has also cracked a career-best ranking and become the first Georgian to ever rank inside the ATP’s top 40.

Basilashvili, who defeated Leonardo Mayer, 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 in Sunday’s German Tennis Open final at Hamburg, rises 46 spots to surpass former World No. 42 Irakli Labadze's record set in July 2004.

Basilashvili wasn’t the only one to have a rankings milestone on Monday.

Chile’s Nicolas Jarry moves to a career-high ranking of 53 by rising 16 spots. The 22-year-old defeated Dominic Thiem and reached the semis in Hamburg.

Italy’s Matteo Berrettini rose 30 spots to No.54 in the world after claiming his maiden title at Gstaad. The 22-year-old held serve in all 49 of his service games and defeated second-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut in the final.

Josef Kovalik of Slovakia (25) also reached a career-high, climbing 30 spots to No.82 in the world after a trip to the semis in Hamburg.
