Rafael Nadal says Nick Kyrgios has the game to win a Grand Slam.

The 12-time Roland Garros champion suggests the enigmatic Aussie lacks an essential ingredient to master a major.

Kyrgios: I Wanted to Hit Him Square in the Chest

The love of the game.

"As I said plenty of times, he's a very top, talented player," Nadal said after his four-set conquest of Kyrgios in the Wimbledon second round. "But there is a lot of important things that you need to do to become a champion, no? He has a lot of good ingredients.

"But, of course, remain an important one sometimes, and that is the love, the passion for this game. Without really loving this game that much, is difficult to achieve important things."

I already know life is deep but I still dig her

Kyrgios cracked 29 aces, but Nadal played cleaner tennis and showed more clarity amid tie break pressure posting a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) triumph for his fourth win in seven meetings with the Acapulco champion. Nadal suggests Kyrgios lacks the consistency and match-to-match intensity needed to win a Grand Slam title.

"Anyway, with his talent and with his serve, he can win a Grand Slam, of course," Nadal said. "He has the talent to do it. Is true that things can be completely different for him if he wants to play all the matches the same way that he try today.

"But if you see the first round against Jordan Thompson, he was able to win the match, but the intensity on court, the way that he played, the way that he was focused, was different than today."
