The Philadelphia Freedoms have found their groove.

The Freedoms stretched their winning streak to five with a 23-15 win over the Orlando Storm on Friday. Whitney Osuigwe was the only Orlando player to score a set—she took the women’s singles 5-1 from Taylor Townsend, but the Freedoms were too deep and too strong on Friday at Hagan Arena.

Mitchell Krueger took the men’s singles 5-4 over Evan King and also combined with France’s Fabrice Martin to defeat Feliciano Lopez and Ken Skupski 5-2.

In total Philadelphia won 123 points to 90 for Orlando. They’ll fly to Vegas to face the Rollers on Sunday afternoon.

Kastles Remain Winless, Vegas Scores a Win

In other WTT action on Friday the New York Empire shellacked the struggling Washington Kastles 22-13. The loss drops the Kastles to 0-4 while New York improves to 2-3.

Washington certainly had its moments as Venus Williams dominated the women’s singles and defeated Kirsten Flipkens 5-1, but Flipkens got her revenge when she and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez defeated Williams and Marta Kostyuk 5-1 in the women’s doubles. Ulises Blanch defeated Yoshihito Nishioka 5-2 in men’s singles.

There was also this regrettable moment from Williams’ doubles partner Nathan Pasha—ouch!

In the late match on Friday, Sam Querrey helped lead Vegas past San Diego, 23-15. Querrey needed 20 minutes to knock off fellow American Taylor Fritz in the men’s singles and Great Britain’s Harriet Dart defeated Danielle Lao 5-3 in the women’s singles.

Vegas improved to 2-3 while San Diego dropped to 3-2.

Vegas will host the undefeated Springfield Lasers tonight, while San Diego will travel to face Orange County.
