Matteo Berrettini will make his final US Open decision within a week.

A year ago, Berrettini battled by Gael Monfils in a gripping fifth-set tie breaker to reach the US Open semifinals.

The world No. 8, who fell to Dominic Thiem in the final of the bett1 Aces exhibition event on the grass of Berlin today, said he's set for a vacation and then will consult with his team before deciding whether to play the "complicated" American hard-court swing next month.

"I'm gonna go on holiday then I'm going to start practicing again," Berrettini told the media in Berlin. "Then I think around next week I'm going to take a decision about Washington and then the U.S. swing, which is really complicated.

"There are things, like I said, that are not really clear yet. So with my team I'm gonna have meetings in the next days to decide what's gonna be my plan."

The US Open is scheduled to start on August 31st without fans or media and players living in a "safety bubble" designed to reduce the risk of the Coronavirus spreading.
