Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

The 24th seeded German upset the 11th seeded Croatian in an epic match. Just from looking at the final score (7-5, 7-5, 1-6, 6-7, 10-8), one can tell that the match had both players going all out. Fortunately, the player I was cheering for, Haas, came out on top. Besides being a five-setter, the match had all sorts of things from aggressive baseline rallies to sly net volleys and dropshots to beautiful and powerful serves. The match had it all! Every point felt like it could go either way to the point where if Haas dominated a game then Cilic controlled the next. To top it all off, just when you thought one of the players was done for, they pulled out an incredible clutch for the save. Overall, it was an incredible, incredible match! Well, this is a racquet blog, so I guess I'm gonig to have to mention a racquet. Let's talk about Tommy's racquet, the HEAD Microgel Prestige (video review). The racquet comes with the expected specs of a tournament racquet: 98 Sq In, 7pts Head Light, thin beam, 18x20 string pattern, etc. I have actually hit with this racquet, and it feels nice. I felt that it remained true to the Prestige family line because my favorite Prestige to date is the i.Prestige, and I finally feel that a true successor to the Prestige throne has been found. I'm busy with other things, so I'm going to cut it short now. Give the racquet a try if you've ever liked any Prestige racquets or if you're a tournament player with big swings and a lot of power.
