First it was the backhand that garnered him attention, then it was the shorts. Now it’s the lack of shorts, briefs and a shirt (and socks). That’s right, the naked body of multiple Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka will be featured in ESPN’s Body Issue, which is set to release early next month. Here’s a sneak preview:
“First I said no for a few months but then I realized it’s personally a challenge to pose naked and also it’s a big honor to be in that magazine. ESPN Body Issue, it’s something great. They really try to show the body of the athletes, putting the sport in the front and that’s the reason why I decided to do it.”
When ESPN’s Mike Tirico asked Wawrinka what he thought, Wawrinka replied with a smile: “I don’t know, what do you think,” he said, to which Tirico replied aptly, “I think you’re a good athlete, Stan.”
