Willis, who toppled Ricardas Berankis in his Grand Slam debut, would not even be in the field without Bate's encouragement.

The couple, who have been dating since February, met at an Ellie Goulding concert.

A week into their relationship, Willis confided he was considering moving to Philadelphia to pursue a tennis teaching job. Bate talked him out of the move and encouraged him to give the pro circuit one more shot.

"I was a bit of a loser,” Willis told ESPN's Brad Gilbert. “I was overweight. I don’t know. I just looked myself in the mirror, I said, ‘You’re better than this.' "

The 30-year-old Bate who celebrated Willis' opening-round win with a victory kiss, will be in his box when he faces Roger Federer on Centre Court today.

"Win or lose it's just a win-win situation," she says in the video above.
