Maria Sharapova will skip the grass season due to a muscle tear suffered while playing at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome. The Russian was slated to play Birmingham and Wimbledon qualies but will instead rehab her injury. She plans to make her return at the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford, which begins on July 31.
