Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

By Chris Oddo | @TheFanChild | Sunday June 13, 2021

After Novak Djokovic completed his remarkable Roland-Garros run by finishing off Stefanos Tsitsipas in five sets, the World No.1 grabbed one of his racquets and made his way to a young fan in the front row to give him a gift.

Clearly, based on the footage you’ll see below, the kid appreciated it! (he freaked out in the cutest of ways)

After the final Djokovic told reporters the story of how the boy was a loyal supporter during the final, and even hollered advice to him when he was down two sets to love.

“I don't know the boy,” Djokovic said. “He was in my ear the entire match basically, especially when I was two sets to love down. He was encouraging me. He was actually giving me tactics, as well (laughter). He was like, Hold your serve, get an easy first ball, then dictate, go to his backhand. He was coaching me literally.

“I found that very cute, very nice. So I felt like to give the racquet to the best person was him after the match. That was kind of my gratitude for him sticking with me and supporting me.”
