South Africa’s Lloyd Harris will miss the rest of the 2022 season due to right wrist surgery.

“I decided to do surgery yesterday on my right wrist and that everything went really well,” the 25-year-old World No.36 said on Instagram. “I have been struggling with severe pain over the last couple months which has not allowed me to be near my best so surgery was my best and only option. I will unfortunately be out until 2023 but i am confident that i will return being super healthy, motivated and eager to achieve my goals.”

Harris, who reached a career-high 31 in the rankings in 2021, has struggled this year, going just 7-14 while dealing with the pain. He lost his last five matches through Roland-Garros.

In 2021 he won 30 matches, reached the quarterfinals at the US Open, and played the final at Dubai.
