Tennis legend Margaret Court’s recent boycott of Qantas Airlines because of the CEO Alan Joseph Joyce’s advocacy of same-sex marriage has inspired many to call for the renaming of Margaret Court Arena to another, less controversial name.

The 24-time major champion’s open letter drew the ire of many on Thursday, including Tennis Australia and tennis pundits.

"I am disappointed that Qantas has become an active promoter for same sex marriage," Court said in a letter to the editor published in The West Australian on Thursday. "I believe in marriage as a union between a man and a woman as stated in the Bible. Your statement leaves me no option but to use other airlines where possible for my extensive travelling."

Court’s comments were met with many a reply on social media, including the following statement from Tennis Australia.
