Two-time Madrid Open champion Novak Djokovic and Kei Nishikori (former runner-up) will meet in first-round action at next week’s Mutua Madrid Open. The No.10-seeded Serb, still searching for momentum this spring, has been drawn into the section featuring No.3-seeded Grigor Dimitrov and No.8-seeded David Goffin—but he’ll have to first squeeze by Nishikori and then a second-round matchup with either Kyle Edmund or Daniil Medvedev to progress.

Top-seeded and five-time champion Rafael Nadal is the same quarter as No.5-seeded Dominic Thiem. The Spaniard could face Gael Monfils in his first match after a first-round bye.
