The Spaniard begins his 174th week atop the ATP rankings with Roger Federer falling to No.2. The four changes atop the rankings in 2018 are already the most since 2003. Nadal begins his sixth stint at No.1, nearly 10 years since he first reached the pinnacle of the rankings table on August 18, 2008.

Nadal ranks sixth all-time in weeks at No.1 behind Novak Djokovic (223), Jimmy Connors (268), Ivan Lendl (270), Pete Sampras (286) and Roger Federer (309).

Nadal leads No.2 Federer by 110 points, so he’ll need to win his 11th Roland Garros title to keep the No.1 ranking after Paris.

In other ATP rankings news, Marin Cilic rises a spot to No.4 in the world as a result of his semifinal at Rome, while Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman rises to a career-high No.12.

Kyle Edmund (17) and Denis Shapovalov (26) each reached new career-highs this week as well. Shapovalov is the No.1-ranked Canadian for the first time this week after slipping pat Milos Raonic, who dropped six spots to No.28.
