Roger Federer—it is safe to say—hasn’t quite knocked the rust off his clay court game, even after playing his first match on the clay last week at Geneva. Here the Swiss joins the fabled GEMS Life tandem of Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils for a little challenge and doesn’t pass muster.




In case you were wondering, the bar to this challenge had been set high by Svitolina (see below). Seems that Federer took it upon himself to go for more and try a “tweener,” which ultimately led to his undoing.
