Juan Martin del Potro has been voted by his peers as the ATP’s Comeback Player of the Year. The Argentine, who rose in the rankings from 1045 to his year-end ranking of 38, is one of three players to have been awarded the award twice (also Sergi Bruguera and Tommy Haas).

Julien Benneteau, Ivo Karlovic and Florian Mayer were also nominated for the award.

Del Potro won the Comeback Player award in 2011 when he returned from right wrist surgery. The Argentine, 28, will look to cap off his fantastic season by leading his nation to its first Davis Cup title when Argentina meets Croatia in the Davis Cup final in the final weekend of November.

He won the Silver Medal at this year’s Olympic Games and also reached the U.S. Open quarterfinals, his first major quarterfinal since Wimbledon 2013.

The Most Improved Player award went to Frenchman Lucas Pouille. It was also voted on by ATP players. Pouille who reached back-to-back quarterfinals at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, edged Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev and Daniel Evans in the voting.

Pouille rose from No.91 in the rankings in February to finish the season safely inside the Top 20 at No. 15 in the world.
