Billie Jean King's 75th B-Day Celebrated as N.Y. Historical Society Photo Exhibition Opens


Billie Jean King is turning 75 this month. And the New York Historical Society is marking the occasion with a blowout photographic exhibition that tells the story of the legendary tennis player and activist in still frame.

Billie Jean King: the Road to 75” was celebrated tonight in New York City with dignified guests in attendance. Tennis luminaries such as John McEnroe and Maria Sharapova came out to pay homage mingle with celebrities (Emma Stone, Holly Hunter) while Cyndi Lauper performed.

King officially turns 75 on November 22nd. The exhibit features 75 rare photographs of King, and runs until January 27th, 2019 at the Historical Society at 170 Central Park West.

King donated her archive to the Historical Society in 2016, including shoes, racket and other items from her career. She is a champion of human rights, women's equality and the #LGBT movement.
