It was a good week to be a Swiss in the ATP Top 10, as Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka each moved up a spot. Federer bypassed Tomas Berdych by 65 points to take over as No. 6 in the world. Federer has bounced between No. 5 and No. 7 since just after Wimbledon this past July. Prior to that, he had been ranked in the Top 3 for more than a decade.
Wawrinka climbed 105 points ahead of France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Tsonga leads countryman Richard Gasquet by just 15 points for ninth. This ties Wawrinka's career best in the rankings.
In the WTA, there were also two moves inside the Top 10. The Czech Republic's Petra Kvitova took over No. 6 from Sara Errani by 180 points and Angelique Kerber rose to No. 9 as former No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki fell back to 10th.
American Sloane Stephens rose to a career-best No. 11.
