We don’t know about the commentator's use of the word “hot dog” because this tweener lob-backhand winner combo from Grigor Dimitrov was more like a bowl of salted caramel ice cream to us—absolutely sweet with a little bit of gourmet thrown in.

But whatever you want to call it—hot dog, human highlight film, showboat, artistry, showtime—the fact remains that Dimitrov really had no other choice but to play a tweener once Vasek Pospisil threw that lob up and over his head. And play it Dimitrov did. Not quite the winner that Roger Federer threw up in Dubai earlier this season against Benjamin Becker, but it was high enough and effective enough to elicit a harmless backhand from Pospisil, which gave Dimitrov the chance to display his quickness and backhand skills on the next stroke.

It was all part of a dominant 6-2, 6-2 performance by the Bulgarian, which sets up a to-die-for quarterfinal with another player who has been known to hit a few works of genius during his day—Roger Federer.
