Before squaring off in a lucrative "Back to Thailand" exhibition match, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal traveled to the Erawan shrine to pay their respects to victims of the bombing in August.

Clad in traditional Thai silk jackets, the pair laid yellow wreaths at the shrine amid tight security on a rainy day. Twenty people were killed and more than 120 were injured by the bombing.

Djokovic and Nadal visited the nation's Grand Palace where they met with prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

"I'm glad that two of the world's best tennis players are here in Thailand," said the prime minister. "This will get more people to come to Thailand."

The players will split about $4.1 million for their trip to Thailand, according to the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand.

Restoring confidence in the safety of Thailand's tourist industry in the aftermath of the bombing was a reason for Bangkok hosting the exhibition.

Djokovic defeated Nadal 6-4, 6-2 in front of a sold-out crowd at the 5,700-seat Hua Mark indoor stadium.
