Denis Shapovalov has taken his spot in the ATP’s top 50 and the 18-year-old Canadian is now the youngest player to reach the Top 50 in just under 13 years, when Rafael Nadal cracked the Top 50 on Nov.1 2004.

Shapovalov, who faces Serbia’s Viktor Troicki at Shanghai on Tuesday, owns a 10-7 record on the season. He created a huge buzz this summer when he became the youngest semifinalist in Masters 1000 history at the Rogers Cup. Several weeks later, Shapovalov qualified for the U.S. Open and become the youngest player to reach the second week in New York in 28 years.
